Yoga for Life celebrates World AIDS Day 2014 with its annual World AIDS Day Kirtan
World AIDS Day December 1 is a globally recognized day of awareness on HIV and AIDS. Yoga for Life has traditionally celebrated this day of remembrance through a kirtan. Kirtan is yoga in the form of music and chanting. Singers and musicians lead the kirtan satsang (kirtan assembly) in a call-and-response chanting of Sanskrit and English devotional and meditative songs. Each set ends with a short meditation. This year's kirtan will be led by Art of Living, JC De Leon, and David Esteban.
The kirtan will take place on Sunday, November 30, at the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP), 50 Hemady St. (between 7th and 8th Sts.), New Manila, Quezon City. Registration starts at 3PM. The event will begin with a short yoga practice followed by the kirtan itself. Members of the YFL community will share stories of their experiences with the community in between songs. Our intention is to relive the stories of love and gratitude that we have shared as a community. This way, we remind each other why we have chosen to become a part of this community and share our visions of the future of our community.
Potluck dinner will follow after the program. Attendees are invited to bring food and drinks for sharing.
